Padmini Kaushal, M.D. is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who specializes in inflammatory conditions of the eye. She also provides comprehensive eye examinations for adults and older children and diagnoses and treats medical diseases and disorders of the eye.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She earned her Medical Doctorate from the University of Vermont. Following an internship, she completed her ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute. She was in practice for many years before pursuing a Uveitis/Ocular Immunology and Medical Retina Fellowship at the National Eye Institute in Bethesda, Maryland with world-renowned mentors Dr. Robert Nussenblatt, Dr. Nida Sen, and Dr. Emily Chew. This training has given her the expertise to manage a variety of inflammatory disorders. She employs a holistic approach to the treatment of ocular inflammation and collaborates with primary care doctors and subspecialists in providing comprehensive care.
She has a diverse academic background that she brings to her clinical practice. In medical school, she was selected for the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute Medical Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She has published many peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters. She has been asked to present at regional and national conferences. Additionally, she in involved with training the next generation of ophthalmologists at the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital.
Dr. Kaushal is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Kaushal is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
