Pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. Dr. Laurenti concentrates his practice on the medical and surgical treatment of pediatric eye disorders such as strabismus (misaligned eyes), amblyopia (“lazy eye”), childhood cataracts, tear duct obstructions, orbital tumors such as dermoids and hemangiomas, uveitis and eye problems related to prematurity. He also treats adults with strabismus.
First in his class with honors, graduation with Medical Doctorate at the Saint Louis University. Completion of transitional year residency at Aurora Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee and 3-year ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals. Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University.
Dr. Laurenti previously practiced at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago and was an assistant professor of Ophthalmology at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. He organized and taught courses in ophthalmology to medical students and led anatomy lab dissections of cadaveric orbits.
Clinically, Dr. Laurenti practiced as a comprehensive pediatric ophthalmologist with clinical and research focuses on pediatric inflammatory corneal diseases and pediatric keratoconus. He has presented his research at numerous national conferences.
Dr. Laurenti is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group, and the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
His other interests include spending time with his friends and family, traveling, staying active and exploring Chicagoland.
