Michael A. Kipp, MD specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. He concentrates his practice on the medical and surgical treatment of pediatric eye disorders such as strabismus (misaligned eyes), amblyopia (“lazy eye”), childhood cataracts, tear duct obstructions, and eye problems related to prematurity.  He also has a large adult strabismus practice. Dr. Kipp currently serves as president of the Wheaton Eye Clinic. 

Dr. Kipp graduated with honors from both the University of Notre Dame and the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine.  He completed an ophthalmology residency and a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the WK Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Kipp is the former director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at the University of Chicago where he taught numerous residents-in-training, medical students and optometry students for over eight years. Dr. Kipp has published over a dozen scientific papers and book chapters, he is an editor of a national pediatric ophthalmology journal, and he is a regular lecturer at both local and national ophthalmology meetings. 

In over twenty years at the Wheaton Eye Clinic, Dr. Kipp has built one of the largest pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus practices in the Chicago area. He has performed over 5,000 surgical procedures on both children and adults. In 2022, Dr. Kipp was elected president of the Wheaton Eye Clinic. He is continuing his clinical and surgical practice while serving in this governance role. In addition to his busy career as a physician, Dr. Kipp treasures time with his wife and five children.

Dr. Kipp is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Eye Study Club, Alpha Omega Alpha, and the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation.
